You aren’t like the “normal” teens.
They’re busy with relationship games while you’re over here dealing with things they couldn’t get their brain around.
Finding someone who gets it … that’s the hard part. Some people think they do, then project their own experience onto yours without ever listening to you.
Getting through the school day is hard.
Same building, same people, same hours, and no say in any of it. Choices come later, in college and in adult life.
Your parents don’t remember what it’s like to have no choices yet.
Some days, school is the easiest part.
Some days, you’re watching younger siblings or covering the house for a single parent who’s out for hours in the day.
Or you’re trying to make sense of something that happened, with no one around to really listen.
Right now you’re in high school. Or going the GED route. You want that adult life. Badly.
It scares you a little, too, since nobody has bothered to explain much of it.
If any of this rings true, you’re in the right place.

I’ll listen, and I’ll learn from you. No, seriously.
No two teens are the same, so I hear you as your own person.
I’ll treat you like a mini-adult, because that’s what you are.
Here you work through what your life looks like. We’ll find out what you don’t know, then talk it through or track down the resources you need.
The adults around you act as if you should already have this figured out. I don’t.
Trauma doesn’t just get better by talking about it.
So I use a gentle body-based therapy called Lifespan Integration to reduce the effects trauma leaves behind. It’s like EMDR, only gentler.
It also gives you a steadier sense of self, so you feel stronger facing what’s in front of you.
So many of the teens I see have shown up as something other than cis-straight that I made a term for it.
“Whatever” covers anyone who isn’t cis-straight and isn’t sure of the particulars yet.
You can have multiple piercings, be gender fluid, be a whatever, and keep exploring that while we work on the rest of your life.
Unless that’s what you want to work through, it isn’t my focus.

Email me today at julia@presencetherapyseattle.com, and we’ll set up your free consultation call.
Texting works, too, if that’s more your speed: (425) 381-9505.
You’ll get someone who doesn’t get scared of your big feelings and doesn’t decide who you are before you tell me.
Sending that email is your call to make, which is more than most of your day gives you right now.
If you are ready to move forward on your journey, let's begin. Clients report feeling more grounded and having better emotional regulation after working together.
We'll talk. I'll answer your questions. We'll figure out together if this is the right match.
